93rd District native announces campaign for the Republican ticket in open 2018 race

DEWITT, Mich. — Graham Filler (R-DeWitt) today formally announced his intention to run for the 93rd State House District seat that will be left open by term-limited House Speaker Tom Leonard in 2018.

Filler–born and raised in Ovid– is running for the Republican nomination in the primary election in August 2018. Filler currently lives in Dewitt with his wife, Alicia, and is an active member of the Clinton County community.

“I’m a community guy and I look forward to serving the people of the 93rd District in the State House,” said Filler. “Not only have I shown myself to be an active and dedicated conservative through my work in in state and local politics, but I’ve also spent my career working to protect the public health and safety.”

Filler holds a law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy and works as an Assistant Attorney General, a position he has held since 2011. Filler has served in local politics as treasurer for the Clinton County Republican Party and has worked diligently to build the local party.

Clinton County Sheriff Larry Jerue enthusiastically endorsed Filler for the position.

“Graham’s work as an Assistant Attorney General is focused on protecting the public health and safety,” said Jerue. “He’s well aware of the challenges that law enforcement officers face. He will be an outstanding asset in the State House for law enforcement and first responders.”

“Graham grew up in Clinton County and cares deeply for the people of our community,” said Robert Showers, Clinton County Commissioner, who has also endorsed Filler. “He will be a level-headed leader in the House of Representatives.”

Filler continues to be involved with several community organizations including the St. Johns Kiwanis Club 707, the SafeCenter, and Big Brothers Big Sisters. Filler is also a member and supporter of the Farm Bureau, the NRA, and Right to Life of Clinton County. He and his wife are members of NorthPointe Church in Dewitt where they volunteer for church events and lead a life group bible study.

Filler is a 2002 graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School.
